Often described as passive yoga, Thai Yoga Massage combines assisted movement, gentle stretching and rhythmic compression with an attentive quality of touch.
In this Level 1 course, you learn to move with the receiver rather than push against them. Breath, timing and body mechanics become as important as the sequence itself.
The training is open to yoga teachers, bodyworkers and therapists expanding their skills, as well as beginners who want to share a practical art of care with friends, family or their community.
We start with the foundations and build progressively. You do not need to arrive with massage experience or an advanced yoga practice.
Explore the history and philosophy of Thai Yoga Massage and its connections with Buddhism, yoga and Ayurveda. Cultivate an attentive, generous quality of presence.
Learn to use your body weight, breath and alignment rather than force. Practice palming, rhythmic compression and assisted stretches while caring for your own body.
Study the traditional Sen energy lines, their names and relationships within the Thai system. Explore how this understanding informs the flow and quality of a session.
Build a full Level 1 sequence of approximately 90 minutes: feet and legs, hips, back, shoulders, arms and hands, neck, head and face, followed by grounding and integration.
Explore the doshas and how awareness of the giver and receiver’s constitution can inform a more sensitive, harmonious approach to touch.
Learn to communicate clearly, recognize contraindications, respect comfort and adapt your work. Give and receive massage, refine your technique and integrate personal feedback.
