Directors and teachers of the school
Shyam Vallabhi Devi Dasi
Shyam Vallabhi is an international yoga teacher and Ayurveda therapist who has spent more than two decades living and sharing the path of yoga. She weaves yoga, Ayurveda, and therapeutic understanding into practices students can bring into daily life.
She travels to India each year for further study and to guide students into direct experience of the tradition. Her background in anthropology and work with nonprofits focused on human and environmental rights shape her grounded, holistic approach.
She has taught at Bali Spirit Festival, Cali Yoga Fest, Ecuador Yoga Festival, and Peru Yoga Festival. She founded Yogendra Ashram in Cali, Colombia, and Dhanvantari Ayurveda & Panchakarma Center in Peru, and leads trainings, healing programs, and retreats internationally.
Through her teaching, she offers space for transformation, integration, and deeper connection.
Chaitanya Nitai Das
Chaitanya is the International Director of Bhakti Yoga School. Originally from Peru, he has dedicated more than 35 years to yoga and spiritual practice, living, studying, and teaching in ashrams across South America, the United States, and India.
His teaching draws on traditional yoga philosophy and daily ashram life. He was among the first South Americans certified in Vedic astrology (Jyotish) in India and shares its insights in a practical, accessible way.
He has studied with Pattabhi Jois and John Friend and was initiated into the Vedic lineage through his teacher, S. Atulananda Acharya. Over the years, he has guided thousands of students and trained teachers who now share yoga in their own communities.
His approach is grounded and consistent: yoga as a path to live with discipline, devotion, and clarity.
Our Lineage
Bhakti Yoga School is rooted in a living devotional tradition. S. Atulananda Acharya Maharaj is a central spiritual teacher in the lineage that has shaped the school and its emphasis on devotion, service, spiritual study and lived practice.
Our trainings honor this tradition not only through philosophy, but through daily practice, meditation, kirtan, community life and the understanding that yoga is a path to be lived.
Tradition with practical application
The teachers combine yogic philosophy, embodied practice, devotion, Ayurveda, meditation and lived ashram experience, with an emphasis on bringing yoga into daily life.
