YOUR FIRST TEACHER TRAINING

Learn deeply. Teach with presence.

This training welcomes you into the foundations of teaching yoga. You do not need an earlier teacher certification or advanced poses: bring curiosity, a willingness to practice and the desire to understand yoga beyond the shape of a posture.

With Chaitanya and Shyam Vallabhi, practice becomes a conversation between breath, alignment, philosophy and everyday life. You learn through movement, observation, partner teaching and constructive feedback in a supportive international community.

THE PRACTICE

A strong foundation. A sensitive approach.

The structure of our Hatha Vinyasa sequence is influenced by Ashtanga Vinyasa principles. We teach a complete Hatha Vinyasa practice rather than the Ashtanga Primary Series.

01 · Hatha Vinyasa

A complete practice, understood from within

Study 62 foundational postures: their Sanskrit and English names, alignment, breath, variations and modifications. Learn a complete Hatha Vinyasa sequence through daily practice, then understand how to build balanced classes of your own.

  • Surya Namaskar A and B, standing poses and balances
  • Seated postures, backbends and finishing poses
  • Breath, bandhas, drishti and sustainable movement

02 · Learning to teach

Find your voice, one step at a time

Teaching begins from the first days. Feel an alignment principle in your own body, explain it to a partner and build your confidence through repetition, observation and caring feedback. Explore clear cues, appropriate variations and consent in hands-on assistance.

  • Practice teaching as you learn each layer
  • Understand how one group of poses prepares the next
  • Create clear, balanced and creative sequences

03 · Rest & therapeutic integration

Learn when to move—and when to soften

Yin, Restorative Yoga, Yoga Nidra and introductory Thai Massage techniques complement your daily Hatha Vinyasa practice. Explore props, supported shapes, attentive touch and ways to adapt a class to different bodies and needs.

  • Restorative support and conscious relaxation
  • Introductory Thai techniques and partner practice
  • Ayurveda-informed awareness of individual needs

YOUR HOME FOR THE IMMERSION

Live the practice at Yogendra Ashram

At Yogendra Ashram, the training extends beyond the classroom. Yoga, pranayama, meditation and kirtan sit alongside vegetarian meals, green mountain surroundings, community and time to rest, connect and integrate what you are learning.

This residential immersion includes shared accommodation and vegetarian meals, allowing you to settle fully into the rhythm of study and ashram life. Private rooms are available at an additional cost, subject to availability.

The mountain setting, spaces for rest and scheduled experiences beyond the shala help make the training a whole-life immersion.

YOUR QUESTIONS

Before you begin

Is this the right course for my first teacher training?

Yes. This is a foundational 200-hour training. A previous teaching certification is not required. If you have specific concerns about joining, talk with our team so we can discuss your experience and needs.

Do I need advanced flexibility or difficult poses?

No. You can begin where you are, even if your practice has been interrupted. We build step by step with alignment, options and modifications. Rest and adapt the intensity when needed.

Do you teach Ashtanga?

Our main practice is alignment-focused Hatha Vinyasa. Its sequencing structure draws on Ashtanga Vinyasa principles, but we do not teach the Ashtanga Primary Series. Yin, Restorative Yoga, Nidra and other practices complement it.

Will I practice teaching during the course?

Yes. Teaching develops alongside your own practice from the first days. You explain principles to partners, practice guiding sequences and receive constructive feedback.

Is this the same as the local course by modules?

This page describes the continuous residential immersion of 21 days and 20 nights. The local Spanish course by modules is a separate program.

What language is the training in?

The international intensive is primarily in English, with bilingual Spanish support. Contact us about your language needs before registering.

What is it like to stay in a Bhakti ashram?

The day includes meditation, pranayama, kirtan, philosophy, vegetarian meals and community life alongside the course. Come with openness to a devotional environment and a respectful, shared daily rhythm.

Are accommodation and meals included?

Yes: 20 nights in shared accommodation and three daily vegetarian meals during the training. Extra nights and private-room supplements are separate. Let us know about dietary needs in advance.

Can I reserve a private room?

Private rooms are available at an additional $15 USD per day, subject to availability. Please confirm availability with the team before reserving.

When is the next course?

Contact the team for the confirmed dates of the next Cali immersion. We can also help you plan arrival, departure and extra nights.

How does Yoga Alliance registration work?

After completing the course requirements, you receive a Certificate of Completion and can apply for RYT 200 registration with Yoga Alliance. Their registration process and fees are separate from the course.

Does this certify me as an Ayurveda or Thai therapist?

This course includes introductory Ayurveda and Thai Massage within your yoga training. The full Ayurveda Therapist and Thai Yoga Massage certifications are separate courses.

Can I take the course for personal growth?

Yes. You are welcome to deepen your own practice, understand yoga more fully and experience ashram life, even if teaching is not your immediate goal.

How do I reserve my space?

Begin with the registration form or contact our team to discuss dates, availability, accommodation and payment arrangements.
